YappyChat for Windows
Your download has started. When it finishes, open YappyChat-Setup.exe from your downloads and follow the steps below. Nothing happening? Download it again.
Free, with every moderation tool included. It updates itself, so you only download it once.
You're on a phone. YappyChat is a Windows app, so send this page to your PC and download it there.
Download for Windows
The latest version
- Windows 10 or 1164-bit
- to download
- Updates itselfin the background
- Freeno account to make
Installing
- Run the file you downloaded. YappyChat installs for your Windows account only, so it doesn't ask for administrator rights.
- If Windows says "Windows protected your PC", click More info, then Run anyway. Windows shows this for new apps that haven't been downloaded by many people yet. It's a warning about how well known the app is, not a sign that anything is wrong with it.
- Log in with Twitch. Twitch's own sign-in page opens in a small window: sign in and press Authorize. That one sign-in covers chat and the stream player, so channels you subscribe to play without ads.
Your data, in short
- Your Twitch login stays on your PC, encrypted with Windows' own protection.
- Chat, notes and logs stay on your PC. Nothing is uploaded.
- Perks are the only thing that uses YappyChat's server, and it only sees your Twitch ID and name.
- A tiny anonymous usage check-in once a day, which you can switch off in Settings.
Updates
YappyChat checks for a new version each time it opens and downloads it in the background. When it's ready, a button appears beside the stream button; restart whenever suits you. After an update, a short "What's new" tells you what changed.
Uninstalling
Open Windows Settings > Apps, find YappyChat and choose Uninstall. YappyChat then asks what else to remove from your PC, with a tick box for each:
- Chat logs, everything YappyChat saved from chat.
- Settings, notes, highlights, macros and your saved login.
- The stream player's sign-in and its cached files.
- The error log, kept for bug reports.
Nothing is ticked to start with, so anything you leave stays on your PC, ready for if you install YappyChat again. Updates never touch any of it.
